Scripture: Matthew 7:13-14
“Weird, Because Normal Is Not Working”
Part V: “Values”
Satan clearly wants us to take his wide path instead of the narrow path of God!
- Drift away (Hebrews 2:1).
- Led astray (John 10:10).
- Great deceiver / father of lies (John 8:44).
- We need to wise up to his tricks (2 Corinthians 2:11).
- If we do not stay wise to his tricks we can easily drift away and lose faith.
Five easy steps in losing your faith:
- Blame God for everything that goes wrong (James 1:2-4).
- Hanging around bad influences corrupts (1 Corinthians 15:33).
- Giving into temptation (Philippians 4:13).
- Loving the world (1 John 2:15).
- Faking it (Matthew 7:21).
God calls us to fight Satan and his temptation and to choose the narrow gate; be weird!
Read your Bible!
- The word is active, sharp and alive (Hebrews 4:12).
- Renew your mind (Romans 12:2).
- Build a firm foundation (2 Timothy 2:19).
- Can’t be shaken (Hebrews 12:26-27).
If we want to be better than normal we must move from “good intentions” to “God intentions”. Living life with God intentions will always be weird to the world!
If we have just enough Christ in us to satisfy ourselves but not enough to change ourselves then we need to answer God’s knock at our door and let Him make Himself at home in us!
When we trust in God enough to really let Him into our lives, be first in our lives and transform our lives, “normal” will no longer be a desired part of our lives. At that moment, we will have crossed-over; we will have been transformed in Christ, saved by his blood and we will become “Weird for the Lord!” Be weird for Christ, your family and your individual life’s faith journey… Because normal isn’t working!
