- Bitterness
- Don’t let bitterness grow. (Hebrews 12:14-15)
- Good fruit cannot come from a bad tree! (Matthew 7:18)
- Get rid of any bitterness or grudges you have. (Ephesians 4:31-32)
- Forgiveness is contingent upon us being forgiving. (Matthew 6:14-15)
- Envy – Comparing ourselves to others and what they have.
- Envy and selfishness leads to evil practices and decisions. (James 3:14-16)
- There is a terrible price to pay for envy and evil. (James 3:14-16)
- We should carry our own loads. Accountability & responsibility. (Galatians 6:4-5)
- In Christ, be thankful and content in all circumstances. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
- Anger/Rage
- Don’t stay angry overnight; don’t give Satan a foothold. (Ephesians 4:26-27)
- To react emotionally endangers us eternally. (Matthew 5:21-22)
- Quick temper/emotions leads to foolishness and poor decisions. (Proverbs 14:17)
- We are to be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to anger; God’s way. (James 1:19-20)
- Paralyzed by fear – Loss, failure, rejection and the great unknown.
- Can any of us add one day to our lives? God is in control. (Matthew 6:27)
- Without true faith it is impossible for us to please God. (Hebrews 11:6)
- If we lack wisdom, ask God in faith and you will receive it. (James 1:5)
- If we seek God, we will be delivered from our fears and emotions. (Psalm 34:4)
The answer to all our “toxic emotional problems” is to seek out God, believe in Christ as our Lord and Savior and follow God’s word, will and way. Without such obedience we will NEVER overcome our toxic behavior or toxic emotions.
